Make a 3D-Model of a realworld object, just by filming it with your smartphone.
With our Reconstruction service you can easily create 3D - representations of realworld objects.
-> Just make a video with your smartphone covering all important angles.
-> Upload the video to our server and wait for the magic to happen. This might take a while. You will receive an E-Mail once the reconstruction has finished.
-> You can then download your 3D - Model in the .obj format, complete with material and texture files.
Try to film your object from all sides to get as much information as possible. At best walk around the object in a full circle while keeping the camera steady on it.
Image Recognition is based on Feature Detection. Featureless surfaces, like flat, blank and monochromous planes will be hard to reconstruct. Try creating your own markers on these surfaces with paint or tape.
Things that you dont want to reconstruct e.g. the background must be distinguishable enough from the actual object and be as less intrusive as possible. A white wall without any features works best.
Use indirect lighting as much as possible to reduce the amount of visible reflections. Outside with overcast weather is one of the best conditions.
Avoid reflective, glossy or transparent surfaces as these will induce great error in your reconstruction.
Higher framerates mean less Motion Blur but also more images to process. It might improve accuracy of the reconstruction but it does not have to.
HD-Resolutions hold enough details for a full reconstruction. Higher resolutions will be mostly pointless and only increase computing times significantly.
To speed up uploads and transfer times your video should be converted to the .mp4 Format preferably with the H.264 codec as this will reduce filesizes greatly without impacting picture detail too much. Filesizes between 20mb and 50mb are a good oriantation.
